In my Brain Cooley voice, I take you first hand to look inside the Tesla Model S, American made luxury electric car with massive 17-inch infotainment center console dashboard and customisable driver’s dashboard (powered by Tegra 3 mobile processor). This beauty of a car showcased the power of the NVIDIA mobile Tegra 3 mobile infotainment center that controlled everything on the car; including battery monitoring, climate, driving modes, or locking & unlocking the doors.

The car is equipped with its own 3G mobile Internet connection, therefore you can access a full web browser; viewing in an ideal format intended for scrolling vertically- or you can split the screen with half and half content. Tesla car infotainment touch screens are one of the few that are allowed to fully be operated while driving, whereas, government regulations require manufacturers to disable portions of this while driving.

As you would have guessed, the console is fully featured offering control of Bluetooth call conferencing, play/stream music from your phone, control the sunroof, adjust the height of air suspension, among loads more but most importantly- monitor how much battery power and mileage the car has for driving. Along the lower portion of the screen will always be the prominent access to climate controls since it replaces physical controls.

The console over the steering wheel is cool enough to allow you to toggle information or entertainment apps with wheel paddles. For example, you can swap battery discharge data for your streaming music app with album cover art.

This isn’t some slow odd looking electric, we’re told the car can go from 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds with the performance package (0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds without.) If you have $60-80 grand to spend you can purchase one (plus you get a $7,500 tax break should you do). Th pricing differs by the battery’s kilowatt hours; 40, 60 and 85 respectively.
